Book Blogger Hop

Lately I’ve not really been reading much, mainly because I have been ill and had no concentration for anything what-so-ever. I’ve managed to finish War on the Margins this week, and things are looking up, I’m about halfway through The QI book of General Ignorance. Still my blog is a little quiet, and I didn’t participate in the hop at all last week.

This week I wanted to pop my head back in despite the quietness of my blog. Still have a look at my review of War on the Margins, and further back if you haven’t visited my blog before. Leave a comment somewhere and I will make sure I pay you a visit too.

On to this week’s question:

“What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?”

This is hard! Like Jennifer it’s the plot that originally makes me pick up a book, and a plot which takes too long to get going, or doesn’t interest me will make me give up on a book. I can’t say I’ve ever not finished a book because I don’t like the characters but if I can’t attach with the characters then I find it difficult to really enjoy the book. This was my main problem with War on the Margins, the plot interested me but generally I didn’t care about the characters.

New since my last hop:

Happy hopping everyone 🙂

  1. Hello my dear,

I think that characters are very important. I love seeing what happen to them and I love to swoon over a few fictional boyfriends more then I should. 😉

I’m also the creater of Morbid Romantica Challenge 2011 which I’m trying to get off the ground. It should be a very fun challenge. AND it wont seem like homework. *smirk*

  2. This might be the best Book Blogger Hop question I’ve seen to date.

So what’s the answer? Plot! Hop over to my blog and let me tell you how a good plot rescued bad characters from bad book oblivion.

  3. Hi new follower, Happy Holidays . I believe a good story needs both a good plot and good characters to capture and hold a reader’s attention.

  4. Happy Friday! I had trouble answering the question this week. I finally wrote about characters being the most important, but really, it’s difficult to separate the two. Drop by and say hi!

  5. Have you gotten the book yet? Hopefully soon if you haven’t.

Hopping by from the blog hop.

Lots of good answers to this week’s tough question.

Stop by my blog to see my answer to this week’s question.

Also check out a design site I found…pretty neat home decorating ideas…it is in the right side panel on my blog.
